JUAN MANUEL PAJARES
Lleida, 1957

Juan Manuel Pajares is an artist who began his career in oil painting during the 1990s in Lleida. Throughout his career, his style has evolved, gradually moving away from collage to develop a more gestural and contemporary visual language. His work explores the interaction between shapes, textures, and characters through layers and spontaneous brushstrokes that invite a dynamic and profound interpretation.
In 2000, his exhibition at Agora Gallery in Soho, New York, marked a turning point in his career, establishing his presence on the international art scene. Following this experience, gallerist Carol Jones took an interest in his work and introduced him to Atelier Art International in Harlem. This initial recognition led him to exhibit in various galleries and art fairs worldwide.
Between 2005 and 2010, he worked with Galerie Thierry Veaux in France, combining contemporary art with antique furniture in an innovative dialogue that was highly acclaimed. At the St-Art Art Fair in Strasbourg in 2006, his 200 x 600 cm artwork was featured on the front page of the local newspaper, solidifying his success in the European market.
He has participated in numerous international fairs such as AAF Hong Kong, AAF New York, AAF Brussels, Discovery Art Fair Cologne, and Cheapart Bonn, as well as exhibiting in galleries in Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid, and other cities. Recently, he has been present at Art3F in Marseille, Lyon, and Mulhouse.
Currently, Pajares continues to evolve in his work, where improvisation and experimentation are essential elements of his creative process. As he himself states: "I never know how I will finish a painting; I improvise. I am always searching for shapes, textures, characters, and their interconnection." At Habit-Art Gallery, his work reflects this relentless exploration, resulting in vibrant and energetic compositions.
